SILENT LOVE OF DEATH: New act has been signed for HCD

Silent Love of Death is the Spanish band formed by the brothers Toledo (Juan Carlos and Miguel �ngel) settled down in the south part of their country.

They began to make music around the year 1996 with another musical project called �Lament� publishing the following demos: Lament (1996), Grey Age (1996), Resting in a place like this (1998). �Lament� moved between gothic rock and dark pop with different influences.

Their musical maturity causes that in the year 2000 a change of musical registry was made. Silent Love of Death was born. So at the end of the year 2003 SLOD finished �The Poet�s Senses�, their first album (Palace Of Worms, 2005). It�s a calling to the rebel spirit of the romantic writers of the centuries XVIII & XIX. Blake, Baudelaire, Espronceda or B�cquer contribute with their artistic essence covered by the cold solemnity and the decay of the band.
Some time ago SLOD colaborated in the compilation of spanish bands �My Dear Freaks� (Caustic Records, 2004), a colletion of musical jewels of the spanish dark scene.
At the moment the band finishes their second album �Donde Habite el Olvido� dedicated to the poems of �amor & horror� of Sevillian poet Luis Cernuda that shall be released at HORUS CyclicDaemon in early 2011. You can read its detailed reviews at .: La Defunci�n :. as well as Mentenebre.

There is also a provisional art-work using the famous picture by Salvador Dal� nevertheless already now we can disclose that art-work and pictures shall be provided by well known Czech photographer V�clav Jir�sek (he designed previous V/A compilations such as Chaos 333, Lust From The Underworld), especially from his portfolio of Mexican pictures and stylised �black death� scenes.

Chain D.L.K.: Please tell us how you got the idea to make the album "Music For Solve et Coagula".
Ossaserpia: Firstly it was a collection of tracks I made at nighttime sitting in a small studio... I liked to make covers of old baroque lute composer�s but the tracks finally were too different from the originals, sort of alchemy... The name was inspired by "Magick In Theory And Practice" by Aleister Crowley.

Chain D.L.K.: I think the artwork for that album must be one of the most ambitious ones I have ever seen. Some might say it is too much. Speak to us about the artwork and booklet.
Ossaserpia: Yes the artwork is unusual for musical format. I'm not a designer and all ideas were developed my Martin (Mrskos) with paintings by Madeleine. We had never corresponded with her and I think it was good idea to let one person feel individually, to watch from different angles.. Anyway I felt a bit nervous if the artwork would be too "gothic". But in contrary it is too "classical" which is really great as it brings a touch of ancient art.

Chain D.L.K.: Do you have any musical education?
Ossaserpia: No and I�m thankful for it. Musical education in Russia is absolutely ill and useless. It stopped at teaching music of times of Tchaikovsky and Glinka and has nothing to do with music now... I like mathematics instead, it's modern forever.

Chain D.L.K.: What are your main music inspirations?
Ossaserpia: They are different from year to year, I liked Depeche Mode in school and was astonished by The Cure's "Head On The Door". The next revelation was Throbbing Gristle "TGCD1" and then Current 93 " Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Starre".Presently it is classic industrial of 80s - Eric Random, Test Dept, Zoviet France and especially Bourbonese Qualk, Legendary Pink Dots. But I don't like to divide music in styles; there are great artists in each kind... It's stupid to restrict yourself in a kind of a style like metal heads do and then try to get out from your own restrictions trying to invent something new.

Chain D.L.K.: Any other inspirations you like to mention?
Ossaserpia: Michel Houellebecq.

Chain D.L.K.: How have the changes in the Russian government, political ideology and the current Russian economic situation influenced you?
Ossaserpia: I live in a strange area; this land is under Russian government 60 years only. Alas old Koenigsberg is almost demolished by war and communists but anyway it's great to live near the borders of Europe. I really don't like the post-communist government of Moscow who do nothing for integration of this region into European Union. There's too much propaganda about times of war and enemies from Poland and Germany, etc. It's really disgusting to spend funds on it when 50 percents of Russia live in poverty...

Chain D.L.K.: Do you like "Stalker" (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1979)?
Ossaserpia: Rather "Solaris" if to speak about Tarkovsky.

Chain D.L.K.: For me your album breathes sci-fi and space. I also felt some of that feeling in the K.Meizter release prior to yours. Did you have thoughts about sci-fi when creating your opus?
Ossaserpia: I'm not too much into sci-fi. Maybe Lovecraft or Houellebecq "La possibilite d'une ile".

Chain D.L.K.: What is your opinion on K.Meizter�s album "traveling light"?
Ossaserpia: I very rarely listen to fresh releases, usually new albums of artists I liked before, for example it was nice album from Current 93 or new Nick Cave's Grinderman release.

Chain D.L.K.: Another very good album release on Horus CyclicDaemon is Musterion with "The black lodge". What do you think about Musterion? Outside of Horus CyclicDaemon (but in the scene) what do you like (music)?

Ossaserpia: I'm not too much into dark ambient releases. Probably early releases of Nocturnal Emissions or Maurizio Bianchi, Zoviet France.

Chain D.L.K.: What is next for you? Any new releases planned?
Ossaserpia: There's some new material but it let's say more psychedelic... I'm not sure if Martin will like it...

Chain D.L.K.: If you got unlimited funds what would you do with your music?
Ossaserpia: Nothing. It's not pop/commercial music. It has nothing common with funds. A.

Chain D.L.K.: Talk to us about Martin Mrskos (the mind behind Horus CyclicDaemon). How did you get in touch, how is your contact today and how did you get him to create such a deluxe booklet/release?
Ossaserpia: I met him around 10 years ago; he promoted a concert of Ordo Equitum Solis, a great Italian band. I was for the first time in Czech Republic and wanted to see a concert of them. So we met in Trebic, a small town near Brno and it was a great time. Since that I have met Martin a couple of more times, I like his beautiful shop in Brno. But now as a Russian citizen I need visa to go to Czech so I haven't meet Martin in around 5 years. We discussed everything by e-mail and all concerned artwork was his ideas...

Chain D.L.K.: Your Tracklist is weird. Talk to us about it please.
Ossaserpia: Everything is very simple; the material was recorded around 5 years ago. So I used just file names of the tracks left in the computer.

Chain D.L.K.: Madeline von Foerster made art for you. How did that happen?
Ossaserpia: It's all the idea of Martin, I never met her.

Chain D.L.K.: Anything to add?
Ossaserpia: I really like the town I live in, old Koenigsberg... And the scene here... Romowe Rikoito, Kratong, etc...

LINGUA FUNGI composes an intelligent and intelligible ambient electronics and all of you shall be surprised be the exquisite tones and sound colours. What a beautiful melancholy!

�Following readers who know my writing and my comments about the current Dark Ambient scene. While not my favorite style I'm finding some compositions that are extremely interesting, as this case at hand, this is second CD of Musterion after the debut "The Black Lodge" in 2006. While not my favorite style I am discovering some that are extremely interesting composition, and in the case at hand, this second CD musterion after their debut "The Black Lodge" there in 2006.

Musterion have developed their musical passages combining the wonders of programming tools with real instruments like guitar and violin, which stains all his compositions of an organic touch.

As with the real guitar and violin in the organic composition sometimes it also includes a female voice that would serve as the tormented soul or out of his mind, and this album leads us through the winding introspective world, a journey through the depths of human life.
It is a kind of Dada-tinged musical schizophrenic. It is a kind of musical Dadaism ink schizophrenics. Not a pleasant trip it is almost a nightmare, a circus attraction in a stroller that takes us to the depths of the mind. We outline the melodic elements of reality in the midst of the cave deep in our psyche.

The CD artwork perfectly illustrates the meaning of the work: collages in which elements are subverted our Western culture: a King Kong in the costume of Superman destroying the Empire State, decaying skeletons, a bottle of poison and a kind of spider with human head and limbs with multiple eyes (this reminds me of the end of the movie "The Fly" (1958), where the end is the human-headed fly trapped in a spider web).
It is the world of dreams, its the collective unconscious of mental deconstruction of a world that torments us.

The music boxes that appear in various parts of the work we have as children, our adult psyche's though always veiled and hidden in the depths of our subconscious to surface in the form of fear or repression. To contextualize the music I have to say that somehow it remind me of our Trajedesaliva, atleast the poetry of those, it becomes choppy words and fragments in Musterion.

The listening, as generally all dark ambient compositions must be reserved for an intimate space. It's music for one only, not to share.
It is the genesis of pure escape, to escape the body for a moment and dream of a journey.
This avoidance Musterion in this case leads us to the sewers around the world in which we live, with the tracks we leave the capitalist nightmare in our psyche.

I would say this is the Dark Ambient music for hermits to stylites the western world that instead of going to the desert or climb a mountain are placing the earphones on to indulge and escape from a world that does not share. If you feel that you are one of them, surely the Musterion proposal is a good way out.�

The Wondrous Journey Through the Catacombs of Life is the second album of Musterion, following the highly acclaimed debut album The Black Lodge (2005), built upon complex and obscure composition techniques and musical innovation, and it drags the listener on a brilliantly imaginative and frightening journey that combines elements of dark ambient, surrealism, absurdity, Holyism with the help advanced structural and theoretical considerations in terms of the composition.
The tale is concerning mind control by psychic, electronic, sexual, pharmaceutical, subliminal, and other means.
The story stretches into the absurd and surely Simon AA K�lle exorcising some demons of his own and exploring a musical world where regular music metre is unimportant, where the rhythm of a piece could be dictated by breathless inspiration more than moving pictures (as the case with film music) or to fit a specific genre. Yet he again expands and evolves the genre of dark ambient into art music.
Due to the dramatic nature of the music, which is shifting pace of both horror and atmosphere, the only way it would feel real enough included incorporation of organic instruments and electro-acoustic instruments. Improvisations, twisted circus music, industrial parts and many atmospheric moments give way for a highly symbolistic album where all elements are pieces of the broken puzzle.

The album was released on Halloween 2009 as a pressed CD housed in a digipak in the limited edition of 500 copies. Extra pocket includes 12-pages booklet. Printed on Paper Couture Specials, BlancBeige (300 g/170 g) beige.

COPH'ANTAE TRYR started in 2007 with an incredible debut album entitled Kyrleet released by Cold Graey label in a limited edition of 57 CDr copies (see the picture below). It was a classic dark-ambient, orchestral performance is sometimes reminiscent Hoedh or Troum.

We have decided - after some hesitation - to present all four (for the time being) available albums in one double digipack (and/or typical HCD A5 envelope - not decided yet) to manifest an impressive drone-music of COPH'ANTAE TRYR.

Coph`antae Tryr is a way of an enlightenment and clearing by injections of medical enzymes in subconsciousness to study and learn other, undercover, dark corners of a universe and places where it is simply impossible to get physically.
Where Coph is the axe of clearing opening a window to light, "Lux resplendens" (dazzling Light), Antae � a barrier constraining consciousness and a body, and Tryr � a medicine.

The new album by Silence & Strength has been in the making for almost 5 years, as some early pieces have been written already in 2004, being composed and recorded in various locations and conditions. This monumental work realized in an album of 13 tracks and 77 minutes constitutes an impressive narrative, which opens up a door to the magical worlds of Gustav Meyrink.
Starting with evocative pieces based on some of Meyrink's short stories the album takes us through the myriad of states and emotions - the menacing and liquid "Cardinal Napellus", the moody and unsettling "Four Moon Brothers", the decadent and poisonous "Ball Macabre", the enchanting "Opal" and so on.
One of the most expressive and dramatic tracks is "Walpurgisnacht". Combining acoustic and electronic sounds, shrieking pipes and a beat of the devilish drum, it conjures up the memories of bloody revolts and phantasmagoric affairs.
The longest composition on the album is based upon one of Meyrink's most acclaimed novels - "Der Golem". Ranging over 18 minutes it takes us on a fascinating journey through the darkened streets of Old Prague. From the bone-chilling rain and menacing ambience of the narrow, cobble-stone alleys, through the tiny rooms of misshapen houses where the early bohemians sing rowdy chansons, to the attic of Staronova Synagogue, which serves as a secret dwelling place of the mysterious Golem, and back again into a sleazy tavern with an aged hebrew harpist wheezing through a long-forgotten song, then finally to the gates of the House at the Last Light where the alchemical hermaphrodite unites the hero and his beloved in a magical union.
The journey continues, through the raucous "Green Face", the beautiful and melodic "White Dominican", to the meditative and conclusive "Angel of West Window". The album ends there, but it leaves us with a precious aftertaste and a strong desire to plunge deeper into the majestic realm of Gustav Meyrink, read his works and share his dreams.
Gustav Meyrink has long attracted readers for his masterful stories, examining the supernatural, the macabre, the spiritual, and the occult. With complex and ambitious novels, such as "The Golem", "The Green Face", "The Angel of the West Window", and "The White Dominican" Meyrink intertwines past and present, dreams and visions, myth and reality in a world of the occult, culminating in the transmutation of physical reality into a higher spiritual existence.

It is the project's first official release on HORUS CyclicDaemon.
The mastering services were provided by iSoundwave, a highly professional mastering studio in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

The album was released on All Fool's Day 2009 in limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies, on top-notch quality art-paper (green Alezan CRO 300g and recycled grey Eko 200g), A5 oversized 8-pages booklet with the tradditional A5 envelope, CD housed in a paper sleeve.

Look at the fine sleeve that is already printed as well as the booklet and the envelope.
A CD-sleeve and an envelope is made of Alezan Cro 300g, a booklet of Eko 200g.

The completing is now under process.
With a bit of stretcher we would say the release shall be done on Solstitium Aestatis!

The great news: today we have received the pressed CD of the new album from the pressing factory.
It has the stunning disc artwork by John Coulthart & I wish you could listen to the music!
The mastering done by iSoundwave (Tel-Aviv, Israel) is really superb! The sound is absolutely clear & crystal-like, dynamics keeps all sonic colours at high quality sound level.
Printing is also in a progress so that we expect to get finalised opus in the end of March.

LINGUA FUNGI: New act has been signed for HCD

Backgrounds

LINGUA FUNGI started in 2001 as way to present more experimental material that began to emerge during other musical projects.

Before the first official releases he made a few unpublished demos.

First official album, Flowery Dreams was released on 23th of December 2006 by War Office Propaganda.

Second official release, Tlapallan Pantonal was released by WOP in February 2007.

Third official release is a split album with Bulgarian ambient artist Shrine under same title, Lingua Fungi & Shrine: Strange Growths/Wander. The split was released by Bulgarian record label Corvus Records in 2008.

To be released in autumn 2009

LINGUA FUNGI: Melankhton (CD)

Melankhton is a sonic interpretation of illness narratives and an anthropological study of the subject based on fieldwork material gathered especially for this project.

The intention of the album is to open the mind of a sufferer for a listener to hear and feel. The narratives and the sounds depicting them bring forth the strong dyadic division of suffering and the brief moments of relief.

Recorded, mixed and mastered in 2006.

His 4th album is to be released in late 2009 in a limited edition of 500 digipack copies.

We are glad to make you familiar that again, exquisite dark fantasy artist John Coulthart joins us to design Silence & Strength: Das Haus zur letzten Latern - A Tribute to Gustav Meyrink, his first CD release by HORUS CyclicDaemon.

He has already stunned us with his arch careful design for our HCD compilation AL: 100th Anniversary (there was already one track by Silence & Strength) as well as Chaoticum's [Psycho] Log: Y.

To those who are not familiar with his outstanding illustrations for H. P. Lovecraft's works, we recommend browsing through his recent collection release, The Haunter Of The Dark And Other Grotesque Visions, a book published by Creation Oneiros.

As soon as we receive his first sketches of the A5 size 12-pages booklet, CD and the envelope, we will post them here for your pleasure, to enjoy before you get your own copy of the album.

In Chaoticum, we seek to create music which opens doors upon new realms, transporting the listener through unto wondrous worlds of darkened splendor by the emotional cries of each instrument. With Tykie-Soo, a neo-classical fugue of sorts, this journey is the initiation into awareness, moving slowly at first with steady cello strokes, but pressing onward unfettered. Lilting strings pierce the night and urge the piece onward, ever moving towards the unknown horizon. As tensions rise, the movement pauses, awestruck at the blinding light of uncertainty, until the stalwart cello resumes motion, plunging forward between shadows. As the horizon draws near, all progress fades as the circuit is complete, life unto death, and the tendrils of knowledge pulling the listener beyond the veil into the rebirth of awareness.

Within this video trailer, Jerome has captured the haunting beauty of Tykie-Soo and represented that tempered journey into the darkness of awareness. Masterfully done is the imagery which brings new life to this momentous piece. The horizon, ever shifting, ever passing, illustrates the uncertain progress we make with each step we take in life. Finally, the video concludes with a beautiful introduction to the cover of the album, revealing the hypnotic art created by the renowned John Coulthart.

The album [Psycho] Log: Y is a very personal collection of music containing many private thoughts and feelings of the musicians of Chaoticum. After producing two successful tribute albums to Le Comte de Cagliostro (2005) and Theophrastus Paracelsus (2006), Silence & Strength has embarked on the most ambitious project yet: Das Haus zur letzten Latern - A Tribute to Gustav Meyrink, his first official release by HORUS CyclicDaemon.

Gustav Meyrink is one of the select few, or perhaps the only writer, who managed to capture the very essence of the occult experience in prose. With complex and ambitious novels, such as The Golem, The Green Face, The Angel of the West Window, and The White Dominican Meyrink intertwined past and present, dreams and visions, myth and reality in a world of the occult, culminating in the transmutation of physical reality into a higher spiritual existence.

The new album by Silence & Strength has been in the making for almost 4 years, as some early pieces have been written already in 2004, being composed and recorded in various locations and conditions. Now all the music has been completed and the mastering process is almost done. The mastering services were provided by iSoundwave, a highly professional mastering studio in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

The artwork is in the decision-making.

We are highly anxious, anticipating this thrilling and monumental release. To be released in September 2008 in a limited edition of 500 copies of A5 oversized booklet with an envelope.

The great news is we have received the pressed CD of our new act, Chaoticum's album [Psycho] Log: Y, from the CD manufacturers right today.
It looks very nice & sounds even much better!
Printing process is also in a progress so that we expect to get finalised digipack on the promised All Soul's Day.

We are very close to the end of this project, as we have been informed that the mastering of the Chaoticum 1st release has been done and it is on its way to our label.
The mastering process was provided by Cyclic Law Audio Mastering in Quebec, Canada, and performed by the head of the Cyclic Law label, Frederic Arbour.
We are excited to listen to what his art has wrought on the final media.
The release should be expected by the end of October 2007.

Somebody peers through a window into thy soul. Each night thou must pass along a myriad of gaol doors, as begging hands stretch forth to catch thy form, to overtake thine most profound being.
Beware of putting thy hand to any of these tortured souls, lest they leap through thy open will-window in this, thy life, and thou shall be lost forever, cursed into living another's EXIsTence.
Forget not, thou art the whole age, as some Slavic languages reveal the etymology of the word human to be. That is to say, eternity is fixed into thee and thou hast delved into the Divine Spark, that imperishable glimmer coming of ineffable darkness, falling into the arms of Man.
This release was an outstanding coalescing of ideas, a tuning and re-tuning of the look and the feel, until the chemical marriage has been completed, and the alchemical fusion begets the birth of something truly spectacular. Now, the release is nigh to its design finishing.

Once again, exquisite dark fantasy artist John Coulthart joins us to design the first Chaoticum release at HCD.
He has already stunned us with his arch careful design for our HCD compilation AL: 100th Anniversary.
To those who are not familiar with his outstanding illustrations for H. P. Lovecraft's works, we recommend browsing through his recent collection release, The Haunter Of The Dark And Other Grotesque Visions, a book published by Creation Oneiros.
As soon as we receive his first sketches of the digipack and the poster, we will post them here for your pleasure, to enjoy before you get your own copy of the album.
