The songs on <em>Uki Uki <\/em>have a feeling of motion with moving synth  \t\tlines and gradual buildup of instruments and melodies. Julica Rorica  is  \t\tcredited with &#8222;voices and magic,&#8220; any voices on the record simply  \t\tproduce tones, no lyrics. Eugene T is responsible for &#8222;guitars and  \t\tmachines&#8220;; given the nature of the recording, machines produce most of   \t\tthe music. While the album can be classified as electronica, there are   \t\tno dance beats; this allows <strong>Roricat <\/strong>to showcase their musicianship and   \t\tthat really allows the focus to be on the music.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ice Cold Blood<\/em>, one of <em>Uki Uki<\/em>&#8218;s highlights, begins quietly with two   \t\trhythms. Slowly, what sounds like demonic violin musings fade into the   \t\ttrack. A repeating guitar riff, soon doubled by bass, overtakes the  \t\tintroductory material. A form becomes apparent when drums are added.  \t\tSolo guitar becomes the dominating feature, really making this track a   \t\trock song with electronic undertones. At the end, we are left with  drums  \t\tand the last bits of the solo guitar fading out.<\/p>\n<p><em>Uki Uki <\/em>brings in elements from many popular forms of music and seems  to  \t\tseek to eliminate ego, creating music for its\u2019 own sake. The songs are   \t\twell formed and have shape; the individual instruments and sound all  \t\thave unique characteristics and fit the music very well. <strong>Roricat <\/strong>has a   \t\tperfect sound for headphones, the intricacies of their music and  mixing  \t\tbecome very apparent when there is nothing between the music and  \t\tlistener to get in the way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong> Jeff Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russian duo, Roricat, combines effected electric guitars and synthesizers to produce sweeping electro-lounge music and instrumental rock.
