{"id":543,"date":"2010-06-06T19:23:47","date_gmt":"2010-06-06T17:23:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.horus.cz\/WordPress\/?p=543"},"modified":"2011-04-15T06:00:18","modified_gmt":"2011-04-15T04:00:18","slug":"a-review-from-fluxeuropa-4-september-2003","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.horus.cz\/WordPress\/?p=543","title":{"rendered":"A review from FluxEuropa (September 4, 2003)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Roricat<\/strong> are a Russian duo  \tconsisting of Julica Rorica and Eugene T.<strong> <\/strong>They produce  some  \textremely varied electronic and experimental music.<\/p>\n<p>There are 14 tracks on this CD which starts with <em>Blue 6<\/em>, which has  an  \telectronic sound &#8211; a bit like Spacemen 3&#8217;s <em>Big City <\/em>blended with a  subtle  \tbeat. There&#8217;s some minimalistic stuff here too resembling very early  Kraftwerk, and a good example of this is the second track, <em>She  Dives  \tWith Fireflies<\/em>. <em>Perverted Magic User<\/em> provides us with some crazy  noises  \twhich flow along to a nice simple melody. The title track is the first  to  \thave vocals from Julica, well what is recognisable as vocals  \tanyway&#8230; there&#8217;s lots of weird electronic sounds accompanying her, some   \tsounding like bells or wind chimes.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mutio<\/em> has a slow pounding beat  and  \twind-like sounds over which some John Squire style guitar is  played.  \tIt could almost be an intro to a <em>Stone Roses<\/em><strong> <\/strong>song, although at  nine  \tminutes rather a long one.<\/p>\n<p><em>Helica<\/em> provides a heavier, faster dance style beat. With some  swirling  \telectronics and twangy guitar. It&#8217;s a bit like <em>Private Psychedelic  Reel<\/em> by     Chemical Brothers. My favourite track is <em>Hive<\/em>, heavy  electronic  \tbeats with some weird sounds floating over, it soon goes into a heavy  rhythm  \twhich reminds me of Folk Implosions&#8216; <em>Natural One<\/em> although with  a  \tlot more going on. Some weird vocal sounds are soon drafted in to make  this  \texcellent track complete. To end things <em>Homeworld<\/em> sounds like it was  \trecorded in a bubble bath! Lots of bubbly electronic effects and weird  \tsounds making it a good finale to such a varied CD.<\/p>\n<p>Definitely worth  \tchecking out as there&#8217;s a whole lot more to discover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>John Marshall<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roricat are a Russian duo consisting of Julica Rorica and Eugene T.
